It's been nice being back at home. The house elves are brilliant cooks, but sometimes I really miss Mum's home-cooking. It's also really nice to have the whole family together again, what with it being Shane's last Christmas break before he heads out into 'the real world' after school. It's strange to think that he won't be at school with Marcus and I next year.
I've gotten most of my Christmas shopping done, but I keep feeling like I'm forgetting someone. I suppose I can always send it later. It would be a pleasant surprise, right? Two days after Christmas day another present comes. Nice!

Well, isn't Hogwarts just full of surprises? First this Wood/Flint ordeal Love potions and accents and seeing strange colors. You'll have to pardon me for being less excited than everyone else about it. Those of us who had the pleasure of seeing orange for an entire day also got to spend the time without a voice at all. It was not fun.
I find it surprising that we're having another ball so soon, but I suppose I can't complain. I had a rather enjoyable time in October thanks to a certain date of mine.

Apparently I'm teaching History of Magic. I suppose it shouldn't be that hard. All I have to do is lecture out of the book, right? Isn't that what Binns does? I don't suppose I could do much worse than he does.

I think I may have to stay away from Zara's idea for a norse god. Although it would manage to go along splendidly with Alice's costume, I have little faith in my ability to pull off facial hair, especially in abundance.
Gianna, we're partnered for the Patronus project. Want to meet up after class to work on it?

A costume ball. Well, I can't say I'm the best dancer the Wizarding World's ever seen, ladies, but I can promise your toes will be safe.
I'm not entirely sure what sort of costume I'd like to wear. I suppose if I ask someone, I should attempt to match their costume, right? Isn't that how this sort of thing works? What is everyone else going as?

So Hogsmeade was an interesting experience. There was certainly a bit more color than usual from you seventh years, and I can't say I minded much. You lot who stayed in missed out on a good time.
